BOMB disposal robots thrilled children at a Colchester primary school.

Colchester’s 16 Air Assault bomb disposal unit spoke to kids at Montgomery Junior School, on Baronswood Way, and even let the children have a go at controlling the robots.

Year three teacher Hollie Burns said: “It was fantastic. The kids went back to their lessons in awe.

“The guys from the unit showed the kids how the robots worked and let them have a go too. We have talked about them so much in class, but they haven’t seen any before.”

Two robots went down to the school to show how they help the bomb disposal unit in their job.

Mrs Burns added: “The children really loved seeing them at work.”

The bomb disposal unit safely tackles unexploded devices, such as shells, bombs and munitions across the east of England region. They have also been called out to deal with unexploded Second World War mines and flares..

how great. this is how our kids learn about the real world. it's great if we as parents talk to our kids as we should. but to actually be able to see and touch these important robots by the guys who operate them makes learning a whole new experience. great teacher. for arranging it!!!!!!!
