Macmillan volunteers wanted

VOLUNTEERS are needed to run a support centre at a Colchester hospital.

Four of the 12 helpers at the Macmillan Information Centre at the Essex County Hospital have left due to work commitments.

Now centre manager Debbie Farthing is looking for more people to help out.

Would-be volunteers need to be over-18 and free for at least half a day one weekday, between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

Training is given and volunteers don’t need a clinical background but must be good at listening, have strong communication skills and be able to empathise with patients and carers.
