A HAIRDRESSER is giving away tickets to a glamorous charity fundraiser.

Feathers hair salon, in Queen Street, Colchester, is offering a customer the chance to take nine friends to the NSPCC’s Emerald Ball on Saturday, November 13.

The tickets are among the top prizes in a scratchcard draw being organised by the company as a thank-you to customers.

Owner Jeff Letter said: “We’ve paid the full cost of the tickets and the lucky winners only need to put on their gladrags and get themselves to the Moot Hall.”

The ball has been organised by the Colchester NSPCC Business Group.

More than 200 people are expected to attend the black-tie evening.

Fire breathers, stilt walkers, a chocolate fountain and live music have been lined up for the event.

All the money raised will go towards setting up an outreach post in Colchester after the previous branch closed and moved to Ipswich.

Katie Skingle, chairman of the business group, said: “This is our third ball for this incredibly good cause and it’s wonderful to have Feathers’ support.

“We started this local group to reach out to local businesses to help local children. We’ve raised more than £5,000 both previous times and this year we’re aiming for £10,000.”
