A MOTHER and daughter team are getting on their bikes in the fight to beat breast cancer.

Natasha Bright, of Colchester, and mum Julie Piper, from West Mersea, are gearing up for the Breast Cancer Campaign’s women-only cycling event, Pedal it Pink, on Sunday, March 28.

They will be among hundreds of women at River Lee Country Park, near Waltham Abbey, tackling a variety of cycle routes, ranging from the family 5km lap, to the half and full marathon distances.

Natasha said: “I have many friends who have had someone in their lives suffer from this disease – all of whom have come through the other side thanks to charities, such as Breast Cancer Campaign.”

To take part go to www.breastcancer campaign.org, e-mail pedalitpink@breast cancercampaign.org or call 0207 7493700. It costs £15 for the full marathon, £10 for the half marathon and £5 for the family 5km lap.

Numbers are also swelling for the Cancer Research UK Race for Life events in Colchester this summer.

Spaces are almost full in the morning session at Lower Castle Park on Sunday May 16, with 1,711 of the 2,000 already snapped up, while 393 have been taken for the afternoon session.
