MP Harry Cohen "under police investigation"

AN MP who claimed his one-bedroom house in Colchester was his family home is being investigated over his parliamentary expenses, it was claimed today.

A national newspaper said the Metropolitan Police has launched a criminal inquiry into Leyton and Wanstead MP after he claimed £70,000 for a second home while at times renting out his main home in Colchester.

Scotland Yard refused to say whether Mr Cohen was under investigation.

This afternoon, former Essex County Council leader and Tory peer Lord Hanningfield is due to appear before City of Westminster Magistrates charged with six counts of theft.

On the face of it Harry Cohen has done the same as the Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

1) Mr Brown lives in grace and favour accomodation in Downing Street.
2) Mr Brown has use of the grace and favour Chequer’s mansion.
3) Mr Brown pays nothing in rent or mortgage for Downing Street or Chequers - which is fair enough to this point.

However when he married he gave the flat he bought cheaply from the Robert Maxwell estate (Maxwell was the crook who supported Labour and stole the pensions of thousand of Mirror newspaper employees) it is widely understood that the Brown now rent this property it out at a tidy profit.
The only other property that GordonBrown has an interest in his old home in Fife, Scotland. This is clearly his real home, it is the only one he owns (note the other property he switched to the wife's name - as you do). Yet he designates the Fife property as his “second home” for expenses purposes.

Labour what a bunch of chancers.

Still in some parts of Colchester you could put a Labour rosette on a bucket of horse manure and you would get idiots who would still vote for them.

On the face of it Mr Cohen is taking the pi55 and has been caught out. Gordon Brown is the PM, the highest post in the elected Government, so he and Cohen cannot be compared like for like. These hangers on need sorting out.
