Tiptree war memorial vandalised

VANDALS kicked down part of a wall surrounding Tiptree war memorial.

Between 100 and 150 bricks were knocked out of the wall, in Church Road.

Tony Webb, a Tiptree parish councillor, said: “The memorial has been in position since 1947, or thereabouts, and has never been attacked before.

“We are very sorry this has happened. When you remember people gave their lives so England can be a nicer, safer country, it is a crying shame.”

A special resolution was implemented at last night’s Tiptree Parish Council meeting to discuss the damage.

The vandals are thought to have struck between 2am and 8am on Thursday. Anyone with information is urged to contact Tiptree police on 0300 3334444.

Heading "Tiptree war memorial vandalised"

The picture, same as the one in the paper copy of the gazette, doesn't look like a war memorial. It looks like the end of a parking area. Is this a wall near a war memorial but not actually part of it or the wrong picture?

can you see that concrete block between the two officers thats it, the wall is around it, so i would class that as part of it.
