SCHOOLCHILDREN and soldiers joined forces to declare war on missed notes and out-of-tune orchestras.
The Band of the Parachute Regiment, based at Colchester’s Merville Barracks, marched on the Gilberd School to give a masterclass to young musicians.
Pupils from the town’s Philip Morant and St Benedict’s schools and Manningtree High School joined in the musical manoeuvres last week.
After a morning of practice together, the soldiers and children played a concert for fellow pupils.
They later put on an evening performance for parents.
Bandmaster Warrant Officer Class 1 Oliver Jeans said: “The aim of the day is to show the students the capabilities of the band and what the Corps of Army Music can offer.”
