A HOUSING association has apologised after a family was left without heating for two weeks.

Kerri Oleforo woke up one morning to find there was no heating.

She took the necessary measures calling Colne Housing and Aaron Services, which specialise in heating, and an inspection was carried out and the hot water was fixed.

It was then realised a second part was needed to repair the heating and Kerri, of Ingrams Piece, Ardleigh, said she then had to wait as temperatures dropped.

She said: “I’m constantly waiting for something to happen and I keep getting my hopes up.

“On Friday I just lost it and broke down. These people don’t know what they are doing.”

Kerri lives with her husband, Bright, and two children, Curtis, ten, and eight-week-old Travis.

She said: “I have called Citizens Advice who said they can’t leave us in there with a newborn baby.”

She has two electric heaters for the house but said they do not make much difference.

Baby Travis is having to wear his coat while he is sleeping in order to stay warm.

She said: “I can’t leave the heaters on for long as they start to smell like they are going to catch fire.

“I just feel disgusted really and upset at how they think it’s OK to leave someone with no basic amenities.

“We’ve all become ill due to this. All this has disturbed Curtis as he has ADHD and has to have a routine.

“You can imagine showering from a bucket has not been the norm for him.”

Amy St Ledger, Colne’s head of customer services, apologised for the delay.

She said: “All our customers should expect to have hot water and heating. We recognise sometimes things go wrong and our aim is to carry out the repair quickly. A contractor attended the same day to diagnose the problem.

“Regrettably, there was a delay in obtaining and installing the part required to fix the heating.

Colne is really sorry about this and has of course apologised to the customer.”
