A dog owner is appealing for help after her beloved pet went missing from the back garden in Dedham.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross, called Effie, escaped the back garden with her brother Elmo by jumping a garden fence.

The pair made their escape from the garden in Forge Street, Dedham, early last Thursday morning while chasing a cat.

Elmo was found by a passer-by a short time afterwards on Long Road East, in Dedham Heath with grazes and a serious injury to one paw.

The passer-by took him to a vet before taking him home to owner Beverly Moore who said she was relieved but upset when she saw Elmo.

She said: "It was a huge relief to see him and have him back but he was shaking and he wasn't himself.

"It was very upsetting to see him in that state."

Elmo will make a full recovery from his injuries but his sister Effie is yet to be found.

Miss Moore said: "We've had big parties out looking for her and around 30 posters have been put up around the village.

"Beagles belonging to a neighbour have been taking part in the search and we've even had a drone in the sky but it's been six days now and so far there's been no trace."

"We've been in touch with the police and all the vets in the area know that she is missing so hopefully someone comes forward soon."

A reward is being offered for information regarding Effie's whereabouts, for sightings or for her return. Anyone with any information is asked to call 01206 322616.
