A GROUP of talented singers had a once in a lifetime opportunity to battle it out on a BBC1 talent show.

Vocally Bespoke, a vocal group which has members in Colchester, appeared on the first episode of Pitch Battle on Saturday.

The show follows vocal groups who take part in riff-offs and other singing challenges before one is crowned the winner at the end of each episode.

Vocally Bespoke unfortunately lost their riff-off battle but the group said it was an incred- ible experience.

Katy Seath, who is originally from Colchester, who helped form the group about 18 months ago, said: “There was 13 of us in the group and we spent about three months working with choreographers.

“It was amazing to be a part of such a big show, it was great but quite unnerving watching it back.”

Guest judge Will Young watched the group perform. They sang a version of James Bay’s Hold Back the River and performed an impressive medley including Justin Bieber’s Sorry and Hard To Say I’m Sorry by Chicago.

The group had impressed judges at their auditionand were picked to be a part of the 30 group line up.

Katy, 35, has performed in a jazz duo at After Office Hours in Colchester High Street and regularly returns from her current home in west London to help out at Stagecoach at Colchester Sixth Form College.

Another four episodes of Pitch Battle are due to be aired on BBC1.
