MUMMIFIED rodents and decades-old artefacts are on display in one of Colchester’s most famous shop fronts.
As regeneration work gets underway in Jacks, quirky items found by workers are being exhibited in the window.
Work undertaken on the building, in St Nicholas Street, includes an archaeological evaluation by the Colchester Archaeological Trust and asbestos removal.
So far a 1950s newspaper, a wasp’s nest, what is left of a child’s shoe, toys and coins have been extracted.
Renovation work at Jacks is likely to begin this autumn and be completed by spring 2018.
