WILL Quince has made a “parting shot” to the Chancellor, demanding investment in transport in and around Colchester.
The MP met Philip Hammond on what might be his last day in parliament, should the incumbent Conservative not be re-elected.
He told the Gazette: “I wanted to meet the Chancellor and have a parting shot. Whether I am elected or not these are the issues.”
“If I don’t get re-elected, I wanted my parting shot to be Colchester getting a fair share of investment in Colchester. The A120, A12, urban congestion around the centre and the north, plus our railways.”
“I have always said transport was key to unlocking investment in Colchester. I hope it (Wednesday) wasn’t my last day in parliament but if it was, I wanted to go out fighting for Colchester.”
Mr Quince added the chancellor could not make any promises but only sit and listen.
“He certainly listened to my representations and wished me luck in the General Election.”
