POLICE are investigating allegations a director at a children’s activity company was threatened.

John Leeks, of Clacton, was reported to police on April 13, for allegedly becoming aggressive and swearing at Stephen Mayzes, director of Amazing Activities.

A second allegation was made two days later that Mr Leeks had made threats during a phone call.

Essex Police confirmed they are investigating reports of harassment and malicious communications.

The row erupted after Mr Leeks’s seven-year-old son was involved in an incident with two other children near a pond in Brook Country Park, Clacton during an Amazing Activities event.

A spokesman for Amazing Activities said: “We will always place the interests of our customers’ safety first in anything we do.

“We do not condone bullying within Amazing Activities or outside and equally the company will not respond to bullying tactics.”

Mr Leeks has denied any threatening behaviour took place.

He said: “The only threat I made was to pursue legal action, or to put the situation on social media and go to the newspapers.

“I didn’t feel they weren’t taking the incident seriously, and was upset about it.”

  • In Tuesday’s Gazette we published a photograph of Amazing Activities employee Danny Mayzes with the caption ‘under fire’.

We would like to clarify Amazing Activities Ltd, and not Mr Mayzes, has been reported to Ofsted in relation to the incident.
