VOTERS have one month to ensure they are registered to vote in May’s county council elections.
Essex Council is reminding residents to check they are eligible to vote on May 4 as part of the Electoral Commission’s nationwide On Your Doorstep campaign.
Residents are being warned that they could lose their right to vote if they miss the April 13 registration deadline.
Head of democratic services Joanna Boaler said: “Time is running out to register to vote, so I would urge everyone in Essex to act now to ensure they are eligible to have their say on May 4.
“It’s very easy to register and only takes five minutes online.
“But if you miss the 13 April deadline, you will miss out on your chance to vote.”
To apply to register to vote, visit gov.uk/register-to-vote before Thursday, April 13.
