A SCIENCE teacher says students have been kind about her new look after she had her head shaved to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Rosanne Taylor, who works at Philip Morant School in Colchester, had her shoulder-length locks buzzed right down to a number three as part of the national Brave the Shave campaign.

She said: "I had it shaved before the last day of term and luckily the reaction has been very positive.

"Everybody has been lovely and nobody laughed.

"There have been a couple of other people at school who were looking to do it as well, so we have all helped each other out and tried to boost sponsorship.

"I was worried about how it was going to look and felt very nervous before getting it done.

"It is certainly a lot cooler but I am getting used to how it looks.

"I was inspired to do it because my mum Julie died of cancer last September."

Roseanne, 43, aimed to raise £500 for the charity, but has already more than doubled her fundraising target.
