RAIL passengers are being advised to postpone their journeys until this afternoon after flooding damaged signalling equipment on the line.

Floodwater caused the damage between Seven Kings and Ilford yesterday.

Abellio Greater Anglia confirmed train services are "severely limited" between Liverpool Street  and Colchester, Ipswich, Clacton on Sea and Norwich in both directions and there will be just one train an hour running to and from the city.

Ticket restrictions have been lifted and passengers may travel later today or tomorrow.

Network rail engineers are working to restore the train service to normal.

The revised train train service until 9.30am is:
One train an hour between Norwich and Liverpool Street
One train an hour between Ipswich and Liverpool Street.
One train an hour between Clacton on Sea and Liverpool Street.
Two trains an hour between Southend Victoria and Liverpool Street
A train shuttle service will operate on the Harwich branch.
A train shuttle service will operate on the Braintree branch
A train shuttle service will operate on the Southminster branch.

From 9.30am, one of the two lines between Seven Kings and Ilford will be closed until at least 12.30pm.

The following service pattern will apply in both directions:

One train an hour between Southend Victoria and Shenfield.

One train an hour between Southend Victoria and Liverpool Street.

One train an hour between Ipswich and Shenfield.

One train an hour between Clacton on Sea and Liverpool Street.

One train an hour between Norwich and Colchester.

A train shuttle service will operate on the Harwich branch.
A train shuttle service will operate on the Braintree branch
A train shuttle service will operate on the Southminster branch.
