A SMALL group of Travellers moved on from Clacton seafront before they were given a notice to leave within 24 hours.
The group of two caravans and a truck arrived on land between the Martello Coach Park and the Toby Carvery in Marine Parade West at the weekend.
The site is owned by Tendring Council which took the issue up with the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit in a bid to remove them as quickly as possible.
Paul Honeywood, cabinet member for housing, said the council is pleased the matter was resolved promptly.
“We had asked the unit to serve a Direction to Leave which was due to take place yesterday,” he added.
“The group left the site overnight and before that could take place - as they had indicated they would when we first spoke to them.
“However, it was only right that we were prepared for all eventualities and had the Direction ready to serve in case the group had remained.”
