STAFF and little ones are celebrating after their pre-school was rated outstanding by an education watchdog.
Squirrels Pre-School, based in Highwoods Square, in Colchester, was praised by Ofsted for helping children make excellent progress.
A inspection report also said staff have high expectations of the children and themselves.
The report added: “Staff provide an exceptionally strong, loving base for children so they feel secure, happy and accepted.
“Children exude confidence in their play and build special, trusting and positive relationships with their key person, staff and each other.
“They also have a superb knowledge of the action to take if they have concerns about a child.”
Katherine Kane, chair of the pre-school, said the management team is “thrilled” with the rating, and said it is a “tribute”
to the hard work of the staff, children and parents.
