MEDICAL marvel Jens Wair is back on his feet.

Jens, of Colchester, suffered a bleed on the brain after being knocked unconscious in St John’s Street, Colchester.

Medics initially feared the selfemployed window cleaner could have long-term brain damage. But weeks after the incident, he was brought out of an induced coma. He has been discharged from hospital and has been visiting friends.

Pal Tony Lee posted this picture on his Facebook page. He said: “Proof if needed that courage, strength, love and the grace of God will always overcome evil in all its forms. Jens is just such a loved guy.

It is great to see him back on his feet. We all love him.”

Within days, the picture had been “liked” by hundreds of people.

Friends have rallied around the talented goalkeeper and cricketer.

Dave Dawson said: “Top man Jens. You will be back on that ladder soon mate.” Mike Fraser said: “Hats off to Jens, certainly very lucky.”

Luke Collins said: “My current favourite hero.”

Mr Wair, who plays cricket for Eight Ash Green and football for New Field FC, was celebrating his 30th birthday when he was knocked unconscious outside the Dirty Penguin bar, on April 11 at 2.40am.

Friends have set up a crowd funding page to raise money for the 30- year-old, who is also a keen angler.

An initial target of £1,000 was set. So far, more than £600 has been raised.

He entered no plea when he appeared at court and was bailed to Chelmsford Crown Court. Matthew Benge, 25, of Circular Road South, Colchester, admitted common assault relating to the incident and received a conditional discharge.
