MORE needs to be done to reach out to former soldiers who are suffering, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has warned.
In an exclusive interview with The Gazette to be published tomorrow Mr Clegg said he is “full of admiration” of the work Colchester-based Veterans First does, but said even more can be done.
Mr Clegg was at The Lakes to annouce an extra £500,000 to fund the Veterans Pathway, in Colchester.
It is in addition to £6million already allocated by the Government, in July.
He said: “It is very moving to see these men who have trained to help others and put their lives on the line but it is understandable they find it very difficult to call out for help themselves and we all owe them a debt of gratitude.
“We must start to reach out to them when they are in need."
