More than 70 new jobs have been created as a new home improvements store opened its first Essex branch in Braintree.

Anglia First Home Improvements, which has four other branches, moved to the former John Pease motorcycle shop in Railway Street, Braintree, this month.

It has already hired ten employees from the town.

The firm, which fits windows, doors, conservatories and roofs, is now interviewing for a further 65 roles, including administrators, drivers, surveyors and sales staff.

Regional Sales Manager, Martin Burgess, said he expects the store to make £3million - £4million in its first year.

He said: “It is very exciting to move into Braintree and I am sure it will be a success.

“We are hoping business will really kick off in January when it’s the perfect time for people looking for new jobs, but business is generally going very well.”

Chris Siddall, Cabinet Member for Prosperity and Growth at Braintree Council, said: “It is always pleasing to hear that an established company have recognised what a great place the district is to do business and I wish them well.”
