A TANNING salon is hoping to collect 200 bras for breast cancer.

All Tanned Up, in Drury Road, Colchester, is backing the campaign and wants more support.

Manager Joan Mitchell said: “I know a few people who come in who have breast cancer and my best friends’ daughter came through it.

“It means a lot to me.”

Against Breast Cancer is running the campaign.

People are asked to drop their unwanted bras in bra bins.

The material is then recycled for textile projects and given a new lease of life in developing countries.

And for every tonne of bras collected BCR Global Textiles will donate money for research into breast cancer.

Nayland Primary School, off Bear Street, is also joining the campaign and has installed an eye-catching pink bra bank in the school lobby where unwanted bras can be deposited.

Wendy Taylor Hill, Director of Against Breast Cancer said “We have received very positive feedback from retailers adopting the scheme and great warmth from the public for an idea that helps the environment as well as charity."
