A PROJECT to replace a bridge in Colchester has been delayed at least until the end of December – it has been announced the day before it was due to be completed.
Essex County Council banned through-traffic from using Spring Lane, Colchester, in January to replace the old bridge.
The project was bedevilled with delays from the outset, but County Hall had intended to finally reopen the road today.
Yesterday, however, a council spokesman revealed “significant unforeseen issues” meant the work would not be finished until at least the end of December.
