A WILDLIFE garden has been opened in Wivenhoe.

The open space is designed to attract bugs, birds and other animals, already proving popular with stag beetles.

Part of the Jubilee Gardens project which began last summer, scores of volunteers from Transition Town Wivenhoe and other groups have dug in to create the green space.

The garden, behind the Wivenhoe Town Council offices or accessible from the King George V Playing Field, was formally opened by local naturalist Chris Gibson.
