I would like to correct a misleading impression in an article in the Gazette on the future of the former Rowhedge post office.
It was formerly owned by Mrs Sheila Smith, who was our very efficient and well-respected postmistress, and contributed greatly to village life.
In the article, the present owner said she and her husband “had to strip it all back and put it together”, which gave the impression Mrs Smith had carried out no maintenance.
In fact, the property was regularly decorated and maintained to a very high standard.
