Why should railways still have first class travel?
(Gazette, June 21) You don’t get it on buses, coaches, the Underground or taxis, so why trains? All travellers should be treated the same.
My daughter and her boyfriend caught a train just after 2pm the other day and had to stand all the way to Liverpool Street from Colchester when the first class was empty, and it was the same on the way back – and this was after 11pm.
Either the train companies should say that if all other seats are taken, then people should be able to sit in first class without the worry of being fined, or do away with first class all together.
