There have been many letters condemning the new recycling system created for the Tendring district, but in principle I applaud the idea very much.

I attended the last full council meeting and listened to the theories/ideas behind the scheme and how it was rolled out. The biggest reason was, of course, to save the council money on waste disposal, which was to be more environmentally friendly.

My opinion is that although it has been brought into play now, it was brought in too early and the new recycling centre should have been up and running first.

The old system of white and black bags should have been kept until the new center for sorting out waste was open. Most people I have spoken to did not have a problem with this, and bottles/glass were also taken to the bottle banks.

Most waste was taken away without problem and the workmen were happy.

I appreciate the new system is not mandatory, but the idea a household cannot dispose of certain waste now is part of the problem.

That is why the road outside the Rush Green tip is a total traffic jam and the result is many people having to be environmentally unfriendly by having to use their cars.

I have no idea how many other towns/cities were looked at, both at home and abroad, to find the most easy-to-use and green system for Tendring. Progress is needed, but we, the customers, should not be asked to do the work of the refuse companies.

All we need is to have all waste collected (as previously done) every week, keeping our properties free from waste hanging about.
