Well done, Gary Scott.

Tendring Council’s new recycling service is an unmitigated disaster and everyone knows that.

In response to an e-mail to the council about the new service and why we could not recycle what we were recycling up to three weeks ago, my wife was told that at present they only wanted high-quality plastic.

The council has been banged to rights, caught out. My hunch is that it is paid more per tonne for the high-quality plastics than mixed recycleables.

This is how it is claiming to save money.

But how can it morally justify me putting out more black bags to landfill each week?
