Poetic bid to save Jacks

With reference to the future of Jacks hardware store ( Gazette, January 31):
Jacks was there before I was born
Jacks was there for homes and lawns
Jacks was there when the U’s beat mighty Leeds
Jacks was there for all our needs
Jacks was there when the cattle graced the town
Jacks was there through all the ups and downs
Jacks was there for rosebud of value.
Oh, for those slow days of mules
When trading was a diet of ink and trust
Colchester would not be Colchester
If Jacks turns to rust.
