With reference to the continued comments on Colchester’s traffic problems, it seems to me some relief could be gained by putting in what was planned at the time the new piece of A120 was constructed, namely the road from the university junction to join the A120 east of Colchester.
This would take a lot of pressure off the roads through the town that take traffic west in the direction of Chelmsford and London.
At the moment drivers have no choice but to find one of the few routes through town to join the A12.
And, while we are at it, how about moving Hythe railway station down line a bit and creating “Essex University station” with a large parking area and a shuttle train to take shoppers and visitors up to the Colchester Town Station (St Botolph’s to us old-timers).
I think that is all for the moment as my old country boy’s brain may go into overload and dream up something like a Visual Arts Facility and we will not be able to afford the things that matter to the majority.
