A woman was trapped for about 15 minutes after the car she was driving ploughed into a fence in Clacton.

She suffered a suspected neck injury and cuts and bruises when the metallic purple-coloured Mini Cooper crashed in St John's Road.

Her injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Firefighters were called to the site, close to the junction with Peter Bruff Avenue, yesterday at 2.32pm.

Crews from Clacton, Colchester and Frinton dealt with the incident by 2.49pm.

An East of England Ambulance Service rapid response and ambulance attended.

She was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance.

St John's Road was partially closed both ways for about 45 minutes.

THREE fire tenders (one from Colchester) for a minor road accident in Clacton, overkill again by ECFRS !!! What a waste of resources.

Is this a sign of things to come when the control rooms have no local knowledge? Mobbhanded response each time

I do hope this woman driver is ok.
we have seen a simular car driven by an "elderly" woman driver who drove quite fast around town.
not seen her for a day or two though.

More worrying so that the fire station is only about a quarter of a mile down the same road as the crash!

Bit concerning too that there are alot of children of all ages who walk this route to and from school.

Thankfully the accident took place when schools hadnt finished or this might have been worse.

How she can crash in an area approaching a mini roundabout I dont think we need to guess.

I hope they throw the book at her.
