A MUM who fought cancer has raised more than £7,000 to help others.

Lois Holder staged the Hollywood-themed ball at Stoke by Nayland Hotel.

A total of 170 guests were given the red carpet treatment and enjoyed the glamour of an Oscar ceremony.

The event raised more than £7,000 and some of the money will go towards buying toys to keep children entertained while their parents undergo radiotherapy.

Lois, who lives in Leavenheath, wanted to raise money after undergoing chemo and radiotherapy treatment for anal cancer.

She became aware of the limited facilities for youngsters while she waited for her treatment at Essex County Hospital.

Lois said she would like any cash left over to be given to help people who had to wait for hospital transport.

Mrs Holder, 40, also supports the Cancer Centre Campaign which aims to raise £4.5 million to bring cancer services and support and advice groups to one location.
