The Beast of Essex may have been spotted in Colchester Cemetery.

Geraldine Collins, 72, described seeing a "beautiful" large black cat walking through the grounds of the cemetery, off Mersea Road.

"I was walking through the graves towards the chapel, and I just saw this massive black tail out of the corner of my eye," the 72-year-old said.

"This huge cat was just walking along so calmly. It was only about a yard away, didn't look my way and walked off."

Mrs Collins, of Leas Road, Wivenhoe, was visiting a friend's grave last week when she spotted what she believes was a puma.

Seems like this is the fastest cat in Essex. Everyone seems to be seing it all over the place now! Hardly a day goes by without a reported sighting!

Who knows it might go to ground soon and make the new VAF building its permanent home. After all once the VAF is opened it will be very quiet there with little chance of it being disturbed by visitors.

My parents was on the bus to Ipswich & we were travelling through Stratford St Mary when they saw the black panther (or beast as its named) in a field oppsite The anchor pub.

Although this was spotted in February.

Plus when me & my daughter visited the Colchester Cemetery when the bluebells were out , we were visiting my son's grave we spotted a baby deer which we think had been laying on the actual grave as the flowers had been flattened . It was not a monkjack

We saw this "Beast" yesterday. We were round my daughter and son in laws flat just off Mile End Road. I was standing on the balcony when I saw a large black cat strolling along the pathway next to some trees. I called the family out, and my son in law and other daughter saw it too. The description in this story is exactly what we saw, Big black cat (ALOT larger than a domestic cat), long black tail, looked like a puma. It was just casually walking down the pathway then disappeared into the trees. I didn't really believe these stories until i saw it with my own eyes!
