A BUSINESS challenge has raised almost £31,000 for a Colchester charity.

The Birkett Long £50 Challenge in aid of St Helena Hospice saw businesses take a £50 note at the start of the summer and return as much profit as possible for the charity.

Solicitors Birkett Long provided the initial cash and the event raised a total of £30,908.79.
