NEARLY 1,000 people marked World Mental Health Day with a day of entertainment and learning at Colchester’s Firstsite.

Visitors to the arts centre enjoyed everything from Nepalese dancing to Chinese calligraphy at Sunday’s event, organised by Colchester Mind.

The event, organised with groups including Tendring and Colchester Minority and Ethnic Partnership, also allowed people to find out more about the work of Colchester charities working in mental health and other fields.

It is surprising that TACMEP took part in this VAF event, after having been evicted a few years ago from 15 Queen Street, to enable Firstsite to buy it at mates' rates.
Anyway, this event must have boosted the VAF's faltering attendance numbers.

TACMEP do good work in the town.

Congratulations to all who took part in this event and raising the profile of mental illness and hopefully reducing the stigma and misunderstanding attached to mental health.

Most people at some stage in their live will suffer from mental illness.
