Dedham council avoids new election

A TROUBLED parish council has avoided another election - but still needs a new member.

Dedham Parish Council was facing its third election in four months after Stephen White decided not to take up his post as a parish councillor just one week after being elected.

If ten or more villagers had requested another election to fill the vacancy, the village could have been left with another election bill in excess of £1,000.

However, they did not and now the parish council is allowed to co-opt a new member to fill its ranks.
