Security warning after would-be burglars target towns
3:46pm Saturday 13th October 2012 in News By Helen Barnett
A SPATE of attempted burglaries has sparked new warnings to keep homes secure.
Electrical items and cash were stolen from a house in Hyacinth Close, Clacton, on Wednesday, October 10, the same day as a botched attempted burglary in Ruaton Drive, Clacton.
Would-be thieves tried to force the front door of the property while the occupants were out, but didn’t get into the home.
A conservatory door was damaged in a failed attempt to get into a house in Southcliff Park sometime between 9am on Wednesday, October 10, and 8.30am on Friday, October 12.
An empty property in Kirby Road, Walton was also broken into sometime between Monday October 8 and Thursday October 11. Damage was done to two doors but nothing was taken.
Dc Lee Winfield, who is investigating said: "I would like to warn residents to be careful to lock windows and doors and if they see anyone acting suspiciously around a neighbour's home to call police immediately."
Anyone with any information about the four incidents is asked to contact Dc Winfield at the target offender team at Clacton on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
