Shop row to get second takeaway

Councillors gave the green light to proposals to convert Celebrations, in St Christopher Road, to a fast-food takeaway.

But at the meeting of the Colchester Council planning committee on Thursday *OCT11* night, members were urged to refuse the application.

“The existing takeaway is already making life very difficult for me,” said Malcolm Cross, of St Clement Road.

“Another takeaway will make the traffic situation much worse, there are already cars queueing up to get into the car park and making things very dangerous.

No details to say what the takeaway will be, but i presume it will be a Chinese. I am a local resident and we DON'T need any more fast food establishments here, you only need to travel a mile for one of these. This area of the estate is quickly going down hill, especially with the Friar looking like it does!! and during the summer they even had a burger van sitting on the forecourt.
How about a bakery, butchers or a fruit and veg shop????
