Black History Month celebration outside Firstsite

BLACK History Month will be marked with an International Market and Multi-Cultural Day outside Firstsite this Sunday.

The open space outside the arts centre will be the venue for food, music and West Indies Steel Pan music, reggae, African Drummers and Funky Voices Community Choir.

Highlights from 11am will includes international musician Josh Doughty playing the kora, a West African stringed harp.

Also at the event, part funded by the European Union, will be dance, youth football demonstrations, fun fair rides, market stalls, table top sales and arts and crafts.

Most people wish Firstsite itself was history. Hope the event goes well and lots of people pop into the golden shed to use the toilets. It all helps in terms of massaging the made up visitor numbers.

There is no proof that 'most' people do. Just the most loudmouthed.
