Roma student wins special scholarship at Essex University

A ROMA student has begun studying at Essex University thanks to a new scholarship.
Angel Ivanov arrived at the uni from Bulgaria after winning the Human Rights Centre 30th Anniversary Scholarship for Roma Students.
Thought to be the first of its kind it is hoped the scholarship will equip Angel and future winners with the knowledge and skills to provide representation for Roma people within decision-making bodies.
Angel will study for a master’s degree in theory and practice of human rights.
