Food waste trials - have your say
12:30pm Wednesday 10th October 2012 in News
HOUSEHOLDERS are being asked to tell Colchester Council what they think of recent food waste collection trials which have taken place in the borough.
On Thursday November 8, from 4pm to 8pm, Colchester Town Hall will play host to an open event those who have participated can share their experiences and hear the results of the trial.
Their feedback will help inform future recycling and waste collections.
All the 7,100 households on the 12-month trial are also being invited to give feedback on recycling food waste in the last year, including via a survey available until November 8.
The survey is open to all food waste trial households online and from members of the councils zone teams.
Weekly food waste and fortnightly black sack rubbish collections will continue for all households on the trial until the consultation responses have been reviewed.
The council has been running the trial to help Colchester achieve its target of recycling 43 per cent of waste in 2012/13.
It has recycled more than 400 tonnes of food waste since the start of the collection trial in November 2011.
More information about the food waste trial and consultation is available online at www.colchester.gov.uk/foodwastetrial by calling 01206 282700 and selecting the ‘food waste’ option or emailing recycling@colchester.gov.uk
