World Mental Health day marked at Firstsite on Sunday

AN afternoon of fun and learning at Colchester’s Firstsite will mark World Mental Health Day on Sunday.

Colchester Mind, helped by Tendring and Colchester Minority Ethnic Partnership (Tacmep), is organising Communities Together, which takes place from 2pm to 6pm.

The event will feature performances by Colchester Chinese Cultural Society, Drumzkool, Dhol Blasters and Colchester Nepalese Society amongst others, while there will be Tai Chi and calligraphy workshops.

Alongside a host of information from health groups, there will also be Indian head massage, Henna tattoos, face painting and more.

This year is the 4th Communities Together event. It has grown from smaller venues to Firstsite.

For more information email m.ali@colchestermind.org or call 07538 819888.

How apt. Wasting £28m on the golden shed was probably the most 'mental' decision in the history of our fine town.

It would be good to have it on the actual day, but I suppose the nearest Sunday is the next best thing. However, this sounds to me more like a "craft fair" and not a session where people can come with their concerns and find out how to tackle the growing problems in today's fraught world.
