Former top Colchester cop takes charge in Westminster

COLCHESTER’S former chief police officer has taken charge of the streets of Westminster.

Alison Newcomb was the divisional commander for Colchester and Tendring in 2010 and 2011 before moving to the Metropolitan Police.

The fast rising officer and mum-of two is now the Westminster borough commander.

She is married to Tim Newcomb, assistant chief constable for Essex, who is currently on secondment with Suffolk Police.

Mrs Newcomb was in charge during a difficult time for the region with Government budget cuts resulting in several police stations closing.

She also helped oversee a drop in crime before her transfer to the Met.

I've had direct dealings with both Alison and Tim Newcomb regarding matters of public safety and my own experience confirms they are both very adept at saying the right thing whilst in reality they just ignore most issues.

The problem is neither of them have stayed in one job long enough to allow any mud to stick.
