Colchester Film Festival review

Colchester Film Festival review Colchester Film Festival review

TOUCHING, hilarious and downright bizarre - the first ever Colchester film festival was a silverscreen success.

Scores of short films from around the world greeted audiences throughout the three-day event starting on Friday.

Organisers, Steve Dorrington and Tristan Syrett, had cast their net - watching hours of short films online before agreeing on the line-up.

The result was a melting pot of styles that challenged viewers as much as it entertained.

Beautiful vignettes that made us laugh, cry, think or simply scratch our heads.

Festival winners: Screenplay and Director award: "82" by Calum MacDiarmid
Cinematography and Best Film award: "Close Friend" by Jose Mari Goenaga
48-hour Film Challenge winner: "Little Lake" by Lens

Look out for the full review in this week's Gazette.

Here were a few of my favourite entries:

All that Cats by Matyas Lanczinger:

Trailer for Head Over Heels by Timothy Reckart

Mixtape, by Luke Snellin
