Fundraisers get in the swim for charity

HUNDREDS of fundraisers got in the swim to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The Colchester Fire Swim, which is organised by staff at Colchester Fire Station, has raised £491,000 since it started in 1981.

This year, hundreds more swimmers, aged from one-year-old to over 70, took part at the event at Colchester Leisure World and it is hoped their efforts will help the event smash the £500,000 fundraising barrier.
