The darkest street in Colchester?

RESIDENTS say they have been left in the dark over their requests for better street lighting.

Yew Tree Close in Colchester has gained a reputation for being under lit.

The short cul-de-sac has just one lamp in the middle of the street, leaving many of the bungalows swamped in darkness.

It is a road populated by elderly and disabled council housing tenants.

The problem has lead to numerous complaints and appeals for more lamps to be fitted.

But Essex Council, the street light authority, denies it has been contacted and urged them to make fresh complaints.

Is this a bad thing then ?
I can't even walk out into my own back garden without setting a neighbours security lighting off.
There is a ridiculous amount of houses with narrow gardens and powerful security lighting shining in all directions in my location.
I'm guessing people feel safer with the lights on.

Another contender is Boxted Road.

With no street lights on a long section from United Way football supporters have now got used to taking a torch to the match so they can light their way home. CBC and ECC are fully aware but they just bury their heads in the sand and ignore the issue for years now.

There are no street lights where I live and I've managed for over 25 years.

I thought the idea to save the planet was to turn them off anyway?
