RESIDENTS are strongly opposing plans to expand a care home in Colchester.

Opposition is mounting against the proposals to extend Welshwood Manor Care Home, which would take its total number of rooms from 34 to 44.

Owners Davard Care Homes plan to demolish a nearby house to build the extension.

Peter Halliday, chairman of the Welshwood Park Residents Association, led a meeting on Monday which saw widespread opposition to the plans.

“Residents are very concerned about many aspects of it, not least the traffic which will be created,” he said.
