A LONG-STANDING solicitor has retired after 37 years at a Colchester law firm.

David Welham, consultant solicitor in the wills and probate team at Thompson Smith & Puxon (TS&P), began work at the firm’s now closed Coggeshall office in January 1975 as a trainee clerk.

Originally a classics teacher he qualified as a solicitor in 1977 and worked in various areas, making partner in 1980.

Directors at TS&P held a retirement party for David at the firm’s offices on North Hill, Colchester on Wednesday September 26 and presented him with a laptop as a retirement gift.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Could you not be nice just for once?
