most likely the driver failed to see the blue lights and responded badly. The police are trained to drive, whereas Joe Public doesnt seem to be able to drive at all. I would like to see enforced re-testing every 5 years. The only people who wouldnt want this are the ones who would fail.

Conjecture regarding who was to blame! None of us know.

Remember the police use blue lights on an emergency for a valid reason but this doesn't necessarily provide them with immunity against poor driving. Emergency vehicles are subjected to the same rules and Highway regulations that the rest of us are expected to comply with.

The difference is the police rarely get prosecuted if they get it wrong.

I would just like to say this was actually my dad who was in the crash. It is very doubtful that you were actually there when the incident happened and should gather all information as you obviously have no idea.

I came on this website to have a look to see if the story had made it onto the website. When I saw comments I thought that was nice and people were going to be sending my dad messages to see if he was okay, infact it was the complete opposite. It states in the article that my dad was taken to hospital he has two children and I am one of them, for me to come on here and see people blaming my dad for the crash was so upsetting to see. Noone knows what has happened or who caused the accident but don't sit and start typing when you have no idea. Thank you to the ONE person who said that he hopes he is okay.

Emergencies? Like getting back to the police station at the end of their shift, I saw a police officer on his own in a marked police car with it's blue light flashing come up Balkerne Hill go round the roundabout and then staight up the slope into the police station car park!

I hope you Dad is Ok Its not unusual to get all sorts of people jumping to conclusons on here , people were on here after a recent crash on the A12 blaming a policeman when they heard they had been involved in a crash bemoaning the fact that they speed under blue liughts until it was announced that he had been helping someone one and was parked on the hard shoulder and someone crashed into him!
Lets hope your dad is fine ,accidents happen and lets hope its just the car that need fixing !

hope your dad is ok,did the police get breath tested?if it was one of us we would be tested.
