Gazette to launch anti-knife crime campaign

LIVES NOT KNIVES is the name of a campaign being launched in your new-look Gazette tomorrow.

And its aim is to encourage people to take heed of that message and think twice before carrying a knife.

Cat Barrie, acting chief inspector for Tendring, said: “Maybe they feel they have got to defend themselves and scare someone off but all of a sudden there is that one lunge and it is too late.
“I don’t know if it has become more sensationalised but jail is not a nice place to live. "And it is not just a sentence, it is what happens after.
“You have a criminal record, might not be able to get a job and cannot travel to other countries.
“I just don’t think they stop to realise how serious it is.
“Now it seems to have escalated to a degree where people think they have to carry weapons. We need to educate people not to carry a weapon.”

The message to people is not to carry knives, if you carry a knife stop it. It reminds me of the drug campaign years ago when the key word was just say "NO". So it is NO to drugs and Lives not knives.. sorted.! Bring back Sunday School is what I say. Come to think of it that may not be a bad idea.

If they get caught with a knife, they should be thrown in prison.
